Two-hour boat rescue

LIFEBOAT volunteers spent more than two hours helping to tow a stricken vessel back to shore.

A 20ft cabin cruiser, called At Last, were rescued by Hartlepool RNLI’s all-weather lifeboat after the boat suffered a flat battery.

The vessel’s three crew members raised the alert while around nine miles east of Hartlepool’s North Gare breakwater.

The call was received at 10.30am on Saturday and the boat reached safety, at a berthing point at Kafiga Landings at Hartlepool Marina, at 12.40pm.

The crew was helped by the Hartlepool Coastguard team once it was inshore.
