University Hospital of Hartlepool evacuated after fire on roof
Fire fighters have put out a fire on the roof of the hospital in Hartlepool.
On Monday, January 13 at around 11am, Cleveland Fire Brigade were called to a fire at the University Hospital of Hartlepool.
Crews were sent to the scene after an automatic fire alarm caused a small area to be evacuated.
Two appliances from Hartlepool Community Fire Station extinguished a small fire on the roof of the ECG Unit.
A spokeswoman for the North East and Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust said: “An external contractor was drying out the area with a blow torch.
“It is suspected that a small piece of debris caught alight, but was very quickly extinguished.
“Smoke from the incident had reached the vents and travelled into an area of the hospital.”
The fire brigade declared the building safe after inspection and Cleveland Police confirmed that their officers did not attend.
