WITH the Headland Festival in full swing this week, we asked shoppers in Hartlepool what their favourite annual events in the town were.
MARIAN Mitchell, 39, a customer sales rep from Grayfields said: “I used to love the Grayfields Show.
“They had dog shows and and there were animal shows and judging in the tents.
“The whole show was very good for the community because it was a great event and a lovely day.”
ANNABELLE Shaw, nine, and attends St Joseph’s School in Blackhall, said: “The Headland Carnival is my favourite event. I like the rides on the fair the best. I always go to it, either with my family or with my friends and we always go to the fair. Sometimes we get involved in the other activities.”
EILEEN Ainslie, 77, a retired quality control operator from West View, said: “I used to like to go to the Headland Carnival but it’s not easy when there’s no buses after a certain time of the day.
“It’s a good day out if you can get there but, from where I live, it’s difficult for a lot of people.”
SUSAN Carr, 57, who is unemployed and lives in West View said: “My favourite event is the Headland Carnival because the Headland comes alive for it. It’s normally very quiet but at Carnival time it comes alive and it’s a brilliant time. It brings everybody out and brings everyone together.”
