GREATHAM was looking bright and beautiful when judges for the Northumbria In Bloom competition inspected the village.
Officials for the environmental initiative made their spring visit this week and were shown the village’s best features by members of the community.
Two volunteer litter picks were held ahead of the inspection and residents were encouraged to get out and make sure the area around their home was as tidy as possible.
The village’s campaign in the competition is led by the Greatham In Bloom Committee.
Competition judges were shown new community features that have been created and improved over the last year.
The four key areas the competition focus on are horticulture, environment, sustainability and the community.
The judges will return in July and Greatham will find out if they have been successful in September.
Last year Greatham was awarded a Gold Medal in the village category.
