The day was in honour of a fundraising event aimed at raising money to help families affected by dementia through visits from Admiral Nurses who specialise in dementia care.

Field View care home, a residential facility for the elderly, which also offers care for those living with dementia, took part in the newly-launched ‘Time for a Cuppa’ fundraising event for Dementia UK.

Bunting and flower displays transformed the home’s coffee shop into a vintage tea room as residents, family members and guests tucked into sweet and savoury treats and enjoyed a chat while raising money for the worthy cause.

Dementia UK helps families to face the illness, and the charity’s mission is to ensure that there is an Admiral Nurse for everyone who needs their vital and specialist support.

The charity currently has 162 Admiral Nurses across the country and aims to increase this number to 200 by the end of 2016.

With more funds, Dementia UK will be able to provide more Admiral Nurses, who are a lifeline for many family carers.

Activities co-ordinator Janice Hardy said: “The Dementia UK cause of helping families cope day-to-day with dementia is one that is very close to our hearts at Field View.

“The charity works hand in hand with families, helping them cope with the fear, uncertainty and difficult everyday reality of dementia.

“Our Wednesday coffee morning is always popular here at Field View so we thought that this was the perfect way to support this worthy cause.”
