PEOPLE are being urged to come forward to help boost an animal charity.
The RSPCA want people to join their dedicated team of fundraising volunteers to collect at Tesco stores, including in Hartlepool, from next month.
RSPCA Week is being held from Monday, April 29, to Sunday, May 5, and bosses want people to help collect funds, allowing inspectors and animal welfare officers to rescue around 140,000 animals every year – about 2,700 a week.
RSPCA regional fundraising manager Amy Smith said: “It costs us in excess of £127m per year to rescue, rehabilitate and re-home these animals or release as many as we can back into the wild, and we rely entirely on public donations to pay for our work.
“If you can, donate a few hours of your time to help animals in need.”
Anyone who can volunteer can register their interest by contacting the local branch by visiting www.rspca.org.uk/inyourarea or emailing Amy Smith at: email@example.com or calling 0300 1238827.
