RESIDENTS can help to warm up churchgoers this winter at a fundraising event next weekend.
Regulars at St Luke’s Church, in Tunstall Avenue, in Hartlepool, are on a fundraising drive to buy a new boiler.
The parishioners need to find £11,700 for the new boiler to replace the “ancient” one in place which has broken down on numerous occasions this year.
Nearly £2,000 has already been raised and churchgoers are hoping a fundraising evening featuring a performance by Hartlepool Ladies Choir will help to boost the total.
The event is taking place next Saturday, September 1, in the church and will get under way at 7pm.
Julia Taylor, 59, the parish administrator who lives in the Grange area of Hartlepool, said: “The event promises to be a lovely evening and hopefully it will help with our fundraising for a new boiler.”
Visitors to the church next week will also be able to look back at photographs from years gone by.
Pictures which were handed to the church some time ago and which include church events throughout the history will be on show. A buffet will also be served.
Tickets, priced at £5 or £4 for concessions, are available from the church or by calling Julia on (01429) 271194.
Anyone who wishes to help with the fundraising for the boiler should also contact Julia.
