This was the scene following a rush hour crash which left two men in need of hospital treatment and a third in shock.
The collision happened near Graythorp at Seaton Carew just after 8am today when a black and silver Mitsubishi and a blue Skoda Octavia collided.
A man was cut free from the Skoda and was taken to James Cook University Hospital for treatment after sustaining suspected fractures to his right leg.
The man who had been driving the Mitsubishi was taken to North Tees Hospital for a precautionary check up for a head injury.
A man who had been the passenger in the pick up was treated at the scene for shock and was kept warm with a blanket as he was helped by the emergency services.
Tees Road and Seal Sands Road were closed off while the scene was cleared, with the recovery operation taking several hours.
Traffic was also affected on Brenda Road.
A spokesman for the fire service said: “Cleveland Fire Service was called at 8.05am to a road traffic collision on Tees Road in Seaton Carew, near Graythorp.
“This incident involved two vehicles and one person was extricated by fire service personnel and there were three casualties.”
