A Geordie version of the All Blacks’s famous Haka tribal war dance has become an internet sensation.
George Taylor created a tongue-in-cheek version of the New Zealand rubgy teams’ traditional pre-match display, complete with new lyrics inspired by the North East.
It comes ahead of the team’s visit to the region next week, where they will take on Tonga in the Rugby World Cup 2015 at St James’s Park in Newcastle.
Maori leaders have described other imitations of the Haka as disrespectful, but Mr Taylor has said the video is not intended to offend.
George’s “Geordie Haka”, filmed at the Monkton Stadium in Jarrow, has already been seen by more than a million people.
