The North East region woke up to a sprinkling of snow and frost on Sunday, April 11 – the day before lockdown restrictions further ease in England in line with step two of the Government’s roadmap.
There were some striking wintry scenes in Hartlepool, captured by Mail photographer Frank Reid, as the Met Office warned that more showers could be on the way.
Forecasters predict another cold and frosty night ahead – but the sun will be shining into a new week.
