It’s his message at the end of each annual Best of South Tyneside Awards, to the invited guests.

But this year, the words of compere Ray Spencer, MBE, were especially relevant on a night when the audience was regularly on their feet to give standing ovations to deserving winners.

There were the Children of Courage whose stories of bravery against the odds touched the hearts of every guest at the venue for the finale, the Quality Hotel in Boldon.

All four nominated Child of Courage contenders were chosen as winners in a real “aww” moment.

But there were many other highlights

Ray added: “These are very special nights.”

He described the awards as one of the events he is proudest of as “South Tyneside is a great place with great people and you are going to hear that tonight.

“We are very lucky to have the talent that we have.”
