After being told by her doctor to have her long locks cut to help ease her back problem, Chris Vasey Measor decided to take the opportunity to raise funds for her local hospice.

Chris, whose hair has grown to just above her waist in three years, is getting sponsored to have her lovely locks chopped off.
Chris said “I have decided to raise funds for the hospice as anybody who has come into contact with the hospice knows that they look after everything and do a really good job.”
She added that she would like to thank Voodoo Hair Salon in Milton Road Hartlepool and hairdresser Mark Wudrop, who will be cutting her hair free of charge on May 29 at 2pm.
Janice Forbes, community fundraiser at the hospice, added “What fantastic idea and a lovely way to raise funds for the hospice.
“On behalf of all the patients and staff at the hospice I would like to thank Chris and the Voodoo Hair Salon.
“The money raised will go towards funding our specialist care services which are provided free of charge to the local communities of Hartlepool and East Durham.”
The hospice, based in Wells Avenue, Hartlepool, is a registered charity offering specialist palliative care.
It receives 24 per cent NHS funding so the outstanding £1,780,000 must be raised through the local community and other fundraising initiatives.
