It also learned more about the live contracts that the trust’s commercial arm, UK.Solutions, manages on behalf of companies from across the UK.

Bill Marley, founder and chief executive of The Employability Trust, said: “We’ve had a long standing relationship with JobCentre Plus so we were delighted when they contacted us to see if we’d help upskill their coaches.

“These people are responsible for helping unemployed people in the area find work so it’s essential they know what jobs are out there and, more importantly, the skills employers are looking for when they’re adding to their workforce

“The trust has a fantastic track record of helping young people into work and that’s because we know the industrial area of East Durham.

“The coaches who attended the training sessions certainly benefited from our experiences and we’ve had some great feedback about their visit.”

Enid Dalton, from JobCentre Plus in Peterlee, said: “To ensure we’re in the best position to help unemployed people in the area find work, we wanted to visit a local employer to find out how they tackle recruitment and training.

“Bill and The Employability Trust team have done a brilliant job helping young people; people who’ve found it incredibly hard to secure work because they lacked the skills and confidence needed to move into work.

“But thanks to the trust, they’ve been given hands on work experience and support to develop, so it was the natural place for our team to come to boost their own skills.”
