ONE family have every reason to smile after they welcomed the fifth generation of their clan.
Little Isobelle Rose Wiley is the latest addition to her large Hartlepool family and she is the apple of her 82-year-old great-great-grandfather, John Laverick’s eye.
Three-month-old Isobelle was born to Jayne Wiley, a 21-year-old care assistant from the Owton Manor area, at the University Hospital of North Tees, in Stockton, weighing 7lb 3oz.
Jayne, whose mum, Angela Spalding, 38, makes up the third generation, behind Angela’s mum and Jayne’s gran, Janet Wiley, 61, who is John’s daughter, said: “My nana said to me ‘the Queen doesn’t even have this many generations of family’, you don’t meet many families these days with five generations and it’s quite an achievement.
“My grandda is just getting over shingles, but apart from that he rides up my house on his bike regularly, he is still very active.”
Jayne’s great-grandfather and head of the clan John, a retired dock worker who is nicknamed Sonny and lives off Wynyard Road, lost his wife Jenny around 16 years ago.
As well as Jayne’s gran, Janet, he is dad to Kathy Stockton, Eileen Bond, Lynda Bradley and David Laverick.
Jayne added: “He loves Isobelle Rose to bits and she is spoilt rotten by everyone.
“We are a really close family and myself, my nana and my mam meet regularly for coffee round my nana’s house.”
Jayne’s gran, Janet Wiley, a former KP Crisp factory worker from Rossmere Way, is married to Frankie Wiley, 70, and in addition to Jayne’s mum Angela, they are also parents to Karen Wiley, 39, Sarah Roe, 33, and the late Michael, who died when he was a baby.
Angela, a part-time Pizza Hut worker of Tavistock Close, is married to Carl Spalding, 39, and as well as Jayne, they are also parents to Simon Spalding, 13, and seven-year-old Craig Spalding.
