JOHN and Carole Ward have got right behind our campaign to big-up Hartlepool.

The town couple take our Proud to be a Poolie poster with them wherever they got so they can spread the word about how good Hartlepool is.

John, 65, and Carole, 57, from the Bishop Cuthbert area of Hartlepool, visited four different destinations and made sure they took the Hartlepool Mail’s posters with them.

They visited Nerja on the Costa del Sol, Torre del Mar and Malaga, all in Spain, and a had their picture taken with one of our posters.

They also had a picture taken near Buckingham Palace on a visit to London.

The couple have previously appeared in the Mail backing the campaign, including during a visit to Cadbury’s World in Birmingham.

Retired John, who said the visit to Spain was organised to celebrate his 65th birthday in November last year, said: “Both me and Carole are very proud of our home town.

“We always take our Mail poster when we go away.

“We in the Mail more times than our mayor,” he joked.

Our thanks go to them for backing our Poolie campaign.
