Jason Astley, operations manager at Stagecoach North East’s Hartlepool depot, said: “We are delighted and proud to continue our support and play a part in bringing recognition to local heroes in Hartlepool through the Best of Hartlepool Awards.

“As the sponsor of the Green Champion Award, we can acknowledge and praise the commitment and hard work which goes into making our community cleaner and greener for all to enjoy.”

The company said it is also keen to ensure it operates in a sustainable way, so felt the category was a perfect one for them to support.

Mr Astley added: “As a local transport provider across the region, Stagecoach North East is also committed to making its own businesses as sustainable as possible to minimise the impact of its operations on the environment.”

Those nominated in that category will get to compete in their own big event in front of a live audience on October 30 at Hartlepool Sixth Form College.

The top three from the evening of great entertainment will go on to compete at the grand finale of the overall awards.
