One of the region’s leading transport firms has come on board once again to back this year’s Best of Hartlepool Awards.

Stagecoach North East has said it is delighted to continue supporting the annual awards which look to honour community champions in Hartlepool.

This year the company is backing the Green Champion Award to acknowledge the commitment that goes into looking after the environment.

Jason Astley, operations manager at Stagecoach North East’s Hartlepool depot, said: “We are delighted and proud to continue our support and play a part in bringing recognition to local heroes in Hartlepool through the Best of Hartlepool Awards.

“As the sponsor of the Green Champion Award, we can acknowledge and praise the commitment and hard work which goes into making our community cleaner and greener for all to enjoy.”

The company said it is also keen to ensure it operates in a sustainable way, so felt the category was a perfect one for them to support.

Mr Astley added: “As a local transport provider across the region, Stagecoach North East is also committed to making its own businesses as sustainable as possible to minimise the impact of its operations on the environment.”

This year’s awards have also been sponsored by Hartlepool and Stockton-on-Tees NHS Clinical Commissioning Group; Hartlepool Sixth Form College and Utility Alliance, along with Hart Biologicals and Specsavers.

Now we are calling on you to nominate individuals who deserve a Best of Hartlepool Award and for the first time this year there is a special category for talented youngsters called the Young Performer of the Year.

Those nominated in that category will get to compete in their own big event in front of a live audience on October 30 at Hartlepool Sixth Form College.

The top three from the evening of great entertainment will go on to compete at the grand finale of the overall awards.

After the young performers’ night, the judges will meet to draw up a shortlist for all the categories in early November.

And then comes the grand final, which will be held at Hardwick Hall on Tuesday, November 21.

To nominate someone for an award please send your entries by post to Lynn Wild, Hartlepool Mail, Alexander House, Rainton Bridge Business Park, Houghton-le-Spring, Sunderland. DH4 5RA.
