Witness appeal after attempted burglary in Hartlepool

The incident occurred at a bungalow on Longfellow Walk around 8:20pm on Tuesday, November 1, when a woman who lived at the property noticed some wire poking through the letterbox.

When the woman attempted to pull the wire out, it was pulled from the other side of the door and the suspects made off.

It is believed that these people may have been trying to use the wire to retrieve car keys through the letterbox.

Two men were noticed running from the area at the time of the offence and officers would like to speak with them as they may be able to assist with enquiries.

The men are described as aged in their teens, both between 5 ft 4” and 5 ft 6 “ tall and they were both wearing black tracksuits.

One was wearing a black woolly hat with light writing on the front.

Officers would like to warn people to keep their valuables and car keys out of sight and out of reach of potential burglars.
