A WOMAN and child were involved in a two-car collision on a main road.

Emergency services were called to the junction of Low Grange Avenue and Marsh House Avenue, in Billingham, after a crash between a grey Seat Altea and a white VW caddy van.

Following the collision, the van collided with a tree.

An ambulance was called to the scene because the 36-year-old female driver of the Seat was complaining of back pains.

She had a young child in her car, who police say was not injured.

The woman was checked over by paramedics at the scene, but it is not thought she needed hospital treatment.

The incident happened around 7pm on Monday.
