Woman injured after being hit by car in Hartlepool


A TOWN centre road was closed while emergency services dealt with a road accident involving an elderly woman.

Cleveland Police closed off Park Road in Hartlepool, near the junction with York Road.

Police received reports at 10.55am on Friday of an elderly woman pedestrian being hit by a Skoda Sabia car.

Paramedics were at the scene minutes later and she was being treated for a minor arm injury before being taken to the University Hospital of North Tees, in Stockton.

A Cleveland Police spokeswoman said: “The road was closed temporarily while the ambulance was there.”

A spokeswoman for the North East Ambulance Service said: “We were called to Park Road, outside Sam’s Snooker and American Pool Hall at 11am on Friday.

“We arrived at 11.11am and this was a green call which means non life-threatening.

“This was a female patient involved in a road traffic accident and she had suffered a minor arm injury.

“We left the scene at 11.33am and the patient was taken to the University Hospital of North Tees.”
