FIREFIGHTERS were called to help a stricken pensioner who had become trapped in a deckchair.

A fire crew from Stranton Fire Station, in Hartlepool, was sent to a report of someone getting trapped in a deckchair in Durham Court, on Durham Street, on the town’s Headland.

The call for help was received around noon yesterday and crew members helped to free the stricken woman.

The woman was fine following her ordeal and didn’t need any medical treatment.

A spokeswoman from the station said: “There was a woman stuck in a deckchair which had collapsed.

“We just lifted her back up.

“She was absolutely fine and did not need any medical treatment.”
