WORK will start next week on improvements to a library.
The work, which is expected to take about four weeks, will involve improving the community facilities through the installation of a new toilet for people with disabilities and the creation of a community kitchen at Hartlepool’s Throston Grange Library.
To enable the work to be carried out, from next Monday, September 10, the library in Glamorgan Grove will be operating some temporary, shorter opening hours.
They will be:
l Monday 10am-noon and 2pm-4pm;
l Tuesday closed as normal;
l Wednesday 10am-noon and 2pm-6pm;
l Thursday 10am-noon and 2pm-6pm;
l Friday 10am-noon and 2pm-4pm;
l Saturday 10am-noon.
Jayne Halliday, Hartlepool Borough Council’s libraries operations manager, said: “These improvements will help us to better cater for the many vibrant community groups which use the library and we hope that, when they see the end results, people will agree that this temporary disruption has been worthwhile.
“It is possible that the library may also need to close at additional times during the four-week course of the work. We can’t predict that, but if it does happen we would aim to keep any such additional closures to a minimum.”
