WINTER weather has returned to Hartlepool with a vengeance.
Town residents were battered with horizontal snow showers yesterday and were warned of more white stuff falling from the wintry skies throughout this morning, and even more tomorrow.
Temperatures were expected to plummet to -1C throughout tonight with wind speeds of 11mph.
Met Office experts are predicting more snowfall tomorrow throughout the day, with temperatures reaching no higher than about 2C possibly feeling slightly colder as wind speed picks up to 14mph.
And Hartlepudlians should probably throw on an extra blanket as temperatures drop to a chilly -3C tomorrow night. Sunshine and cloud with 3C temperatures are predicted for Thursday with winds of just 4mph.
Police are also warning motorists to take care on the roads with serious accidents occuring in other parts of the North-East yesterday.
Forecasters are predicting that the temperatures will start to recover towards the monthly average in the next couple of weeks, although overnight frost and ice will still be a possibility.
It’s a big contrast to last week when people enjoyed warmer weather and last year when a mini-heatwave hit the North-East in March.
