You 'jump'-ed to it and raised thousands for a Hartlepool cause on Christmas Jumper Day
Just brilliant. That’s the support that Hartlepool schools and businesses showed this Christmas for a town charity.
The Hartlepool Special Needs Support Group has been given a boost of more than £2,600 thanks to its Christmas Jumper Day.
Organisers say the money is vital at a challenging time for finances.
Jamie Allison, a trustee with the support group, said: “It has been a huge success. This has proved to be a challenging year financially with us needing to rely more and more on our local fundraising over national grant applications.”
Schools which gave their support included English Martyrs School and Sixth Form College with Clavering and St Bega’s Primary schools getting in on the fun.
Walton Clark Whitehill Accountants, Venator Group UK and all of the support group’s own regular clubs also got involved.
A spokesperson from Venator Group said its Greatham site got involved and more than £1,100 was raised.
English Martyrs School and Sixth Form College supported the event for the fifth year running.
Steve Hope organises the school’s contribution towards the jumper day.
He said: “We were thrilled to have taken part in the HSNSG Christmas Jumper Day for the fifth year running.
“The staff and students love the day and this year we managed to raise £1,161 taking our total to over £5,200 across the years.”
“We are proud to support Hartlepool Special Needs Support Group and other local charities and we will continue to do so in future years.”
Jamie added: “It is great to see so many local people getting involved with our annual Christmas Jumper Day. We are firm believers of supporting local and our Christmas Jumper day is testament to that.”
“Every penny raised will go towards helping families in and around Hartlepool. We couldn't provide the services we do without the vast support of the local community.”
“We would like to thank each and every one of you who has been involved today and throughout the rest of 2019 and wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a very happy New Year"
