Youngstars: Hartlepool St Francis FC tournament attracts team from around region

Footballing youngsters from all around the region took part in a tournament staged in Hartlepool.

St Francis FC hosted their fourth tournament this month at Rossmere Way, which attracted nine teams in the Under 11 9v9 category.

St Francis Yellows and Royals, Hartlepool FC and Easington FC were among the teams from the local area taking part in the competition.

St Francis coach Andrew Bates said: “We had a great day with some fantastic football on display with teams from all over the North East attending.

“I would personally like to thank everyone who has attended our next level tournaments for the last four Saturdays, all the players, parents, coaches, voluntary staff, friends and St Francis for their great hospitality.”

In Group 1, Easington Colliery won all four of their games to qualify along with and Hebburn Town.

In Group 2 Darlington Spaire Eagles and KYPC went through to the semi-finals

In the first semi-final, Easington were comfortable winners over KYPC and in the second semi Darlington Spraire Eagles defeated Hebburn Town in a penalty shootout

The final between Easington and Spaire Eagles was a cracking game of football with both teams going all out for the win and showing great determination after a long hard days football.

But the game ended 0-0 and went to a penalty shootout which Easington won 3-1 to lift the Next Level Cup.
