GREEN-FINGERED youngsters have been learning how to plant and grow their own vegetables in order to make healthy snacks and meals.
Children at the Bush Babies Daycare Centre, in Rossmere Way, Hartlepool, have been busy planting and observing beans, herbs, beetroot, leeks, peas, broccoli, carrots and strawberries as they grow.
When they are all fully grown the children will work with the centre’s cook, Lynn Hatch, to make their own snacks and meals.
Nursery manager Angela Brown said: “The children will be taking care watering them etc and when they are fully grown the children will be helping to prepare snacks and meals with Bush Babies cook Lynn Hatch.
“This is a great opportunity for the children to grow, prepare and eat the produce that they have grown. Many children don’t get this experience.”
