Bed crisis due to cash cuts

Isn’t the so-called bed blocking crisis in the NHS inevitably due to huge cutbacks in funding for care in the community?

Respite care for carers has disappeared in some places.

Local authorities take the money from the Government but spend it elsewhere.

Any big funding cuts in social work support, too, would be a false economy.

Former care in the community patients are inevitably going to end up blocking beds in NHS hospitals if no support package can be put in place to send them home.

Cuts in local government funding will rebound on the NHS.

Whitehall have caused this crisis.

Top civil servants cannot be allowed to get away with using this so-called crisis as an excuse to shut down emergency departments right across England, but they will try.
