As health professionals working in the Tees Valley we write to encourage people to vote to remain in the European Union.
Our local NHS depends on the incredible staff working here.
At least 10% of doctors, nurses and care workers supporting our health and social care system come from other European countries.
All of us have been treated by a European doctor or nurse.
We value their contribution to improving local care.
We are worried that a British exit from the EU might make it harder for people to come and work here or may make them want to leave.
We also know how much the local NHS benefits from EU grants to fund research in areas like cancer.
Future investment in the NHS needs a strong economy.
We don’t want to risk losing this investment if our economy is affected by an exit from the EU.
We urge you to support the future of our local NHS.
Please vote to remain in the EU on June 23.
