LETTER: Beating obesity

OBESITY is a problem, even more so nowadays. I believe this to be a direct result of schools’ lack of cookery lessons.

The lessons I had as a child studied the nutritional value of the ingredients, how to prepare them and then how to cook them.

Now children think that most food comes from takeaways and haven’t a clue how to cook.

You could kill two birds with one stone here.

Reduce the jobless by giving them a job in schools teaching youngsters how to shop for ingredients, then prepare them into a nutritious meal.

Takeaways have their place, but, like everything, in moderation.
