IT would seem that our MP, in his weekly column, has changed his electioneering theme from the University Hospital of Hartlepool to steel-making.
He criticises the current Government for not doing enough to preserve the steel industry.
Would Iain Wright like to remind his constituents which party was in power when Teesside lost many of its blast furnaces and much of its steel-making.
And which party had a Trade and Industry Secretary just down the road in Hartlepool while this was happening?
And which party lost a guaranteed safe seat because the electorate of Redcar said that Labour hadn’t done enough to save steel-making.
And then, which party was in power when the blast furnaces were fired back up, with record-breaking cargoes leaving Teesside.
Certainly not Labour for that last part.
It just did the damage for the next government to fix.
As to the article on the next page where he is ranting at the Government over affordable housing, and saying it is a Labour priority.
We can only presume from this that the thousands of affordable houses in Hartlepool, built by the Labour party, have all been sold or let.
