Letter of the week: Hartlepool hospital staff are 'absolutely brill'

Our writer thinks the staff at the University Hospital of Hartlepool are "absolutely brill".

On September 19 I was admitted to the courtesy lounge prior to a knee operation.

Quite nervous, one by one I met the team, plus the surgeon, all assuring me everything would be okay.

I was impressed.

I was pushed into the operation room and was surrounded by the young team, who made sure I was in the right position, and held me there for the lumber punch.

They then re-arranged me, painted my leg and put the screen up.

Next minute I was in recovery with a cup of coffee and a painkiller.

The next two days were absolute fun.

The nurses tried to scare us with ice-cold baths.

The guys were from all over the country and wanted to be in Hartlepool because of ward four.

Absolutely brill!

Ward four recovery and the surgical ward - 10 out of 10.
