More support is needed for dementia sufferers

I’d like to take a moment to draw readers’ attention to the impact of Alzheimer’s and dementia, not only on those living with the condition, but on those caring for them too.

Revitalise provides respite holidays for disabled people and carers, including people living with Alzheimer’s and dementia.

We understand that regular time off from the daily routine is absolute essential in sustaining a loving relationship between carer and cared for.

Our own research found that as many as four out of 10 carers have not had a day off from caring in the past year.

As a result, six out of 10 said a lack of respite led them to feelings of depression.

This has to change.

So I’d like to ask Mail readers to join us in our call for more support for families coping with Alzheimer’s and dementia, and to support our vital work.

For more information, and ways you can support our work, visit or call 0303 303 0147.
