I refer to the letter from Peter Morris (Mail, February 24) of The European Movement.
He trots out the EU mantra as if he were presenting the sermon on the Mount.
Apart from the scare-mongering, and doom and gloom speculation, he faithfully regales us with the “out” claim that leaving the EU would deny us access to trade with the EU and the continent of Europe.
Most of his vision of Brexit (Britain’s exit from the European Union) has been disproved and totally discredited by experts, time and time again.
However, there is not one word in his letter on the issues of sovereignty, constitution, and the totally undemocratic ethos of the EU – the “democratic deficit”.
This is what lies at the centre of the debate.
This can not be ignored, much as Mr Morris and others would like to do so.
The increasing public awareness that, for over 40 years, we have been duped by the political establishment, is the cause for the real anger that now prevails.
Beginning with the actions of Edward Heath in 1972, when he began this process, right up to the current claims which David Cameron is trying to convince the British people with.
Mark well the words attributed to Abraham Lincoln “... you cannot fool all the people all the time.”
June 23 is, hopefully, the day when we get back our country and our democracy.
