Only a matter of time

I AM a careful driver, but it is hard to swerve out of the way of people on push bikes wearing headphones and listening to loud music, totally unaware that they are swaying around in front of traffic.

Many ignore the traffic lights when they are on red and go straight over.

Many times I have just missed being in a fatal accident by my fast braking reaction and by also missing car drivers who think the amber light still means go and don’t stop.

It is about time that cyclists were banned and fined for using earphones while on the road.

If mobile phones are banned then so should earphones.

It may be all well and good if people want to risk their life for a bit of loud music.

But I don’t want to have to live with a death on my hands.

It is only a matter of time before someone is killed or fatally injured through wearing headphones.
