Party raised so much cash

I would like to thank all the friends and family who contributed to my wife, Wendy’s, 70th birthday charity party.

Thanks to everyone who gave so generously we raised £965 for The Butterfly Thyroid Cancer Trust.

Also, thanks to Maxine, Carl and all of the staff of the Domes, plus DJ Gavin, for their help in making the evening go so smoothly.

And to Cafe 177 (Hartlepool Families First) for the buffet.

On the entertainment side I would like to thank Sheila Simmons for her witty and funny poem on Wendy’s life so far.

Thanks also to members of The Ladybirds, Marylin Hamblett, Sandra Steel and Ann Dixon, assisted by Lin Howlett and Wendy, for their humorous and energetic dance rendition of Keep Young and Beautiful, choreographed by Betty Monkman.

Finally thanks to The Valentines, a fine example of local talent, who provided us with an evening of good old rock ‘n’ roll.

It left us older dancers with achy joints and fond memories of when we could do it without any repercussions. Proud to be a Poolie.
