Poem – A new life

When people flee the land they love, for some place they know not where.

Are they really thinking of a new life or just an absence for one or two years?

The vast majority of the refugees are young, male, single and strong.

Why do they desert their motherland, should they stay and right the wrong?

Should they fight for what they believe in then stay and manage the change?

Or should they seek a new life,

Far removed from war and pain?

Are they prepared to change their lifestyle and accept the traditions of others?

Will they adapt their beliefs and customs or insist that change come from others?

Will they fight to protect their new home as we and our forefathers have done?

And will they love this land of Britain?

If this is so, they will be welcome.
