The church featured in Memory Lane (Mail, December 5) was located in lower Park Road, next to Park Road secondary school.
They were located on what is now the car park near the entrance close to T J Hughes’ store.
Being a pupil at this school from 1949 until 1953, I would pass this church five days a week.
The street on the right, where the ladies are coming out, led down to the tin box factory, partly damaged during the Second World War.
I would often wonder how such a spire so tall was erected on the church.
I can’t remember the name of the church but it may have been Methodist.
