The puddle

editorial image

There’s a pool outside my kerb,

That reaches to the middle

Of the tarmacked road,

Where the children love to paddle.

And the ducks from Rossmere Park

Like to have a swim.

I’ve complained about it many times,

But they’re not listening.

I’ve thought to take in lodgers,

To make a bit of cash.

For the scenic view

Is all that they could ask.

Then when winter comes,

It could be exhilarating,

If one or two would join me

And do a bit of skating.
