A setting sun provides a dramatic backdrop for the former offices of Caterpillar on the North West Industrial Estate at Peterlee which were demolished in 2011.

After all, it was right by the roadside as you passed Peterlee.

But it was back in 2011 when the familiar scene disappeared forever. The three-storey office block at Caterpillar, on the North West Industrial Estate, was pulled down to mark the end of a six-week demolition programme.

The iconic building stood for 40 years and once housed 65 office workers including the finance and IT sections, as well as the boardroom and managing director’s office.
