Golfing mother and daughter Carol and Alice Jones have earned a date at Ryder Cup venue the Belfry for a national championship.

Both mum and daughter, from Billingham Golf Club, have made it through to the National Grand Final of the American Golf Ladies Championship after a tough qualifying competition at Hexham Golf Club.

The pair will now take their places at Ryder Cup venue The Belfry on September 9&10 to battle it out over the Brabazon Course for the title of best Ladies Pair in the UK

In a closely fought contest, the pair held onto victory by just one point over Tyneside golfers Susan Handley and Margaret Tindale, with home club golfers Jennifer Herrmann and Paula Forster qualifying in third place.

Holding their nerve over the final stretch, this dynamic mother and daughter team head off to the American Golf National Finals with a useful victory under pressure in the bag.

“After the success of our 9 Hole and Junior Championships last year, we added the Ladies

Championship for 2016,” comments Daniel Gathercole head of marketing at American Golf.

ever Ladies Champions.”
