MICK Hadfield’s comeback bout will be in Hartlepool.

The 23-year-old, who has returned to the fight game almost four years after his last contest, will box Newcastle’s Jamie Humble at the Owton Manor Social Club next Friday.

It is quite a coup for Catholic Club to be staging the match on their annual spring show which has been brought forward to next weekend after their original date clashed with the start of the ABA Championship.

And it is quite a test for Hadfield, who while a class act and a highly-decorated amateur, has not thrown a punch in anger since May 1, 2009.

The Headland ABC star is up against a star of the present day.

Humble is a former Junior ABA runner up and is an England international, who boxes for North Benfield.

Tough though it is going to be, Hadfield is starting to find his form.

SportMail reported his return last month and how he was beginning to sharpen up with spars against unbeaten Hartlepool professionals Peter Cope and Callum Winton.

And the former World Cadet Championship silver medallist is looking forward to doing battle at the Wynyard Road venue.

“I’ve been through Middlesbrough sparring as well and things are looking OK,” he said.

“I’m excited to be boxing on the Catholic Club show.”
