DAVID Dolan is to get another crack at the British championship.
The Hartlepool-trained boxer will challenge Jon Lewis Dickinson for the Co Durham man’s Lonsdale Belt at Houghton-le-Spring on Friday, February 15.
It will be Dolan’s third tilt at the cruiserweight crown after a defeat to Rob Norton in Birmingham in February 2009 before a draw in a re-match 11 months later in Manchester.
Dickinson already boasts a win over Dolan after triumphing in their Northern Area title showdown in summer 2011 at the Stadium of Light.
Dolan, managed by Dave Garside and trained by Neil Fannan, has been training hard over Christmas and the 33-year-old will give it his all in this big North-East derby.
Wearside fight figure Phil Jeffries will be promoting the show at the Rainton Meadows Arena in conjunction with Frank Maloney.
“I am over the moon to be putting on Dickinson against Dolan,” Jeffries said.
“Tickets will be going on sale next week and I think fans will have to move quickly to get them.”
Hartlepool boxer Peter Cope will also be boxing on the show.
