The judges gqave all three rounds to the 15-year-old much to the delight of his corner and the travelling support.
Catholic Club head coach Paul Allen said: “Dylan showed no signs of nerves, Finlay was a come-forward style boxer but Dylan used his ring-craft combination shots to pick up the points.
“The Hartlepool Catholic Boxing club would like to thank Dylan’s coaches and supporters, you’ve all been fantastic.
“For the club to have two national champions last year in Callum Measor and Danielle Marshall is great.
“This season we now have Dylan and with another Schools Championships about to start who is to say we don’t have some more.”
The start of the contest showed no real difference between the boxers but was a really good round for Skedd sending in a lovely long range combination.
After instructions from cornerman Mark Smith, in the second round Skedd kept to the Catholic Club game plan, which was working so well.
At times Skedd was caught against the ropes and had to stand and swap shots, but such was his ring craft skedd even surprised the watching spectators.
The travelling support helped Skledd going into the third and final round and used his ring-craft combination shots to earn the victory.
