MORGAN Murray warmed up for his Junior ABA Championship pre quarter-final with a fine win in Hartlepool.

Murray will box White Rose fighter Sam Clark in the next stage of the national tournament at the Sherburn Leisure Centre in Durham on Sunday.

But the teenager still insisted on boxing at his home Catholic Club show on Friday night.

And Murray performed well, registering a unanimous points win over South Doncaster’s Reece Bradford in an exciting bout.

Amy Currell enjoyed a super first-round win on the show at the Owton Manor Social Club.

The 22-year-old had seen female team-mates Carla Morgan and Shauna Taylor both beaten earlier in the event but went out like a whirlwind against Hannah Burn.

Currell barely missed with a punch and after referee Kevin Weaver gave Burn a second standing eight count in quick succession, he halted the bout.

There were other Catholic Club wins for Aaron Stevenson, Bobby Carter Jack Winspear and Jamie Readman.
