ALAN Pardew is on the brink of leaving Newcastle United to take over at Crystal Palace.
The two clubs are understood to be close to agreeing a £2m compensation package.
Pardew, the Premier League’s second-longest serving manager, has told owner Mike Ashley that he wants to leave St James’s Park.
The 53-year-old chose not to speak to the media after yesterday’s 3-2 win over Everton.
Pardew’s non-appearance fuelled speculation linking him with the vacant post.
By this morning, he had been installed as the odds-on favourite to succeed Neil Warnmock at Selhurst Park, where he spent four years as a player.
