Hartlepool United manager Dave Challinor won the competition with AFC Fylde last season and will be hoping to retain the trophy at his new club.

The first round draw remains regionalised with Pools one of 28 different non-league sides in the northern section of the draw – they are ball number 7.

Ties will take place on Saturday December 14 with clubs having the option to either settle things on the day or go to a replay should the game end all square after 90-minutes.

Some potentially interesting ties could await Pools in the first round including holders and Challinor’s former club Fylde, a team making their debut in the competition in Notts County and of course local rivals Darlington.
