Hartlepool FC striker Jamie Tumilty is celebrating after being crowned the Wearside League’s top goalscorer.

He becomes the very first player from the town to win the award in the league’s entire 125-year history.

Tumilty netted 33 goals in league games with another eight in the cup competitions, ending the season with a total of 41 goals.

The striker could have had more but the five he scored against Prudhoe were null and void after the Northumberland club left the league during the season.

Pool completed their league programme with a 1-1 draw with third-placed Sunderland West End, with Sam Cook grabbing the goal.

FC had a hectic finish to their season using some 25 players in their final four games in eight days.

Meanwhile, Wolviston take on Sunderland West End in the Monkwearmouth Charity Cup Final tonight, kick-off 7pm.

Wolviston have full back Robbie Gratton returning from university and he will go straight into the

squad, the only player missing due to a knee injury, is central defender Adam Johnston.

Strikers Philip Otele and Junior Masandi are battling it out to become the clubs top scorer this season, with Philip on 23 and Junior on 22 goals.

Good luck to Stockton Town who take on Thatcham Town, from the Hellenic Football League, in the FA Vase Final at Wembley on Saturday, 12:15pm KO.
