Hartlepool United to host Sol Campbell's Macclesfield Town in pre-season friendly

Hartlepool United have added a final home friendly to their pre-season schedule against Macclesfield Town.

The Silkmen, managed by former Arsenal and England defender Sol Campbell will make the trip to the Super 6 Stadium on Saturday, July 27 (3pm kick-off).

Macclesfield earned promotion from the National League in 2018 and had looked set to drop straight back down from the Football League only for Campbell to step in and help secure survival in League Two.

Pools boss Craig Hignett wanted to add at least one more friendly to his pre-season schedule as his side now have six lined up to follow on from Tuesday night’s 4-0 win at Billingham Town in their opening friendly match.

They now face Shildon away on Saturday (3pm kick-off) before completing their Northern League tour away to Newton Aycliffe on July 9 (7:30pm kick-off).

The match comes just a week before the National League season is set to get underway on August 3.

Hartlepool have reduced ticket prices to just £10 for adults and £5 for concessions for their home friendlies against Macclesfield as well as Middlesbrough on Sunday, July 14 (1pm kick-off), Sheffield United Under-23s on Saturday, July 20 (3pm kick-off).

Tickets will be available in advance from the club’s ticket office and also online by the end of this week, though there will also be cash turnstiles in operation for Pools fans on the day of the game.
