Pools host Dagenham & Redbridge this Saturday (3pm kick-off), before welcoming Barrow in the run up to the New Year where they will then step into 2020 with a match against Harrogate Town at The Vic.

United have won just three home matches in the National League this season though they should be able to take some confidence from their impressive 1-0 FA Cup victory against Exeter City last time out on the north east coast.

Mafuta has started every game so far for Hartlepool this season so has a pretty solid idea of how the season is going on the field as he commented: “There’s not a lot of things that are missing but one big thing is the home for which we need to sort out.

“[Apart from the last two matches], away from home we tend to be very good, but at home I don’t think we’re good enough so that needs to change.

“Any side that goes on to be successful always has strong home form so that’s something we need to improve.

“There’s nothing really I can put my finger on, it can be hostile at times at Victoria Park but as players you’ve got to embrace it.

“If you make a mistake as a player, move on because we’re all going to make mistakes.

“We just need to give the fans something to shout about.”
