Hartlepool United v Dagenham & Redbridge: Don't label it a six-pointer says Craig Hignett

Hignett wants Pools to carry on from where they left off in a 3-1 win at Barnet and does not want the side weighed down with talk about how crucial the game is.

“All games are important for us,” he said.

“We want to be hard to beat at home and against Dagenham people will look at it as a six-pointer, but I’m not worried about what other teams do, it’s about us.

“If we are sticking to what we are saying we will be OK, we have a game-plan every week.

“We have a system of how we set up although how we play in that system could alter by the game.”

It probably is a must-win game for opposite number, John Still.

Should the Daggers lose, they would be nine points from safety with only 10 games to go.

Hignett rates the Eastenders, who last week finally achieved their first home win in the league – a 1-0 success over York – quite highly.

“Dagenham have had a decent run of late, a win and a draw,” said Hignett. “But we have to get at them and start at a really high tempo.

“They are bottom, but people will have looked at us against Northampton and no-one expected us to compete and we should have won against them.

“Everyone can beat everyone in this league.”

Hignett will have Adam Jackson available after the centre-half missed the win at Barnet with a thigh strain.
